Mt Airy Composite Squadron cadets and senior members were privileged to support the Warfield Air National Guard Drill Weekend on Sunday, 15 April 2018. Maryland Wing, Civil Air Patrol, Group 1, was represented by Mt Airy and Bethesda Chevy Chase Composite Squadrons.
Mt Airy cadets rolled up their sleeves and accepted the onerous assignment of dish washing. Cadet Staff Sergeant Katherine Grasley and Cadet Senior Airman Madsen immersed themselves in the fast-paced, hot task of rinsing and loading, while Staff Sergeant Dylan Marty unloaded and delivered clean plates and utensils in the steamy, hot bath environment. Marty was quoted to say, ” I concentrated on integrity and selfless service” when asked about his duty assignment. Mt Airy’s newest cadet, Cadet Airman Conner Snyder, demonstrated his enthusiasm and appreciation with his attention to courtesy when accepting dirty trays to process. Cadet 1st Lt Raegan Buzzard and Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Aurora Albertson took on the task of washing pots and pans alongside Bethesda Chevy Chase’s First Lieutenant Donahoe. We are immensely proud of our cadets and their performance.
Following the Dining Hall duties, the cadets were treated to a tour of the airplane hangar, the A-10 “Warthog” and training missiles. The experience is one of the most memorable for a youth or adult. It is interesting to talk to the mechanics, pilots and engineers. Their personal experiences and perspective on the planes and their careers. We wish the 175th Wing a safe journey and good flight in all their endeavors.
