The Rotary Club of Mount Airy Maryland – hosted the annual Octoberfest on October 6th and 7th 2018 at the Agricultural Center in Westminster Maryland. Mt Airy Composite Squadron cadets and seniors turned out to volunteer for both days of the event. They kept the traffic flowing, assisted with parking and the mobility impaired, gave directions and collect donations for the Rotary. The cadets and volunteers were amazing. This was a successful confidence building exercise that provided community service and helped the Rotary.
Maryland residents turned out to experience German food, music, dancing and crafts. The cultural experience would not have been complete without the accompanying German-like weather; overcast and drizzly. The weather did not deter public participation; the event was held indoor and was a complete success. Canadian geese were seen on the move; they too joined in the merriment.
The Rotary Club of Mt Airy Maryland sponsors many community fund-raising events, contributes to the Carroll Community Hospital, provides a $1500 scholarship for four years to a graduating Mt. Airy senior. They also fund Mount Airy local schools, Mt. Airy Net, national and international projects. Mt Airy Composite Squadron is proud to be of assistance in their endeavors.
