PRELIMINARY REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN ES

Emergency Services

Cadets:   Complete your Curry Achievement

Seniors:  Complete Level 1 Training (CPPT) 

 

Then, after completing the above: 

  1. Take your 116 Test Part 1 and Part 2.  (Part 2 is the same as ICS 100).

  1. Once you have passed the tests, bring a paper copy of the testing certificates to the Squadron, and turn them over to Lt. Denise Sharp.  

  2. Print a Specialty Qualification Training Record (SQTR) for the level you will be working on, and present it to Lt. Denise Sharp.  (New Ground Team trainees will begin with GTM 3).

  1. Your SQTR will be signed, allowing you to begin training in the specialty you choose.

Important:  You are designated as being GTM Trainee Status until you have completed all of the following:

  •  Cadets:  Curry Achievement

  •  Officers (Seniors):  Level 1 Training

  • All:  CAP 116 Tests Part 1 and Part 2 (ICS100)

  • All:  All tasks on your SQTR signed off

  • All:  Taking and passing FEMA’s IS 700

  • All:  Participate in 2 training missions (Search and Rescue Exercises – SAREX’s)

  • All:  Provide documentation that you have completed a First Aid Course.    Note:  CPR is also recommended.  These need not be Red Cross courses.  Regulations do not specify a particular provider.

These items must be turned in to your ES Officer, 1Lt Denise Sharp.  She will give you instructions on submitting them for MDWG approval.  You must also enter them into your Operations Qualifications record on the National Headquarters website. 

While you are under GTM Trainee Status, you may participate in SAREX’s and any other training exercises, but you may not respond to, or participate in actual Search and Rescue Missions as part of the Ground Team.
