Squadron marches in annual Mt. Airy Firemen’s Parade |

07/25/2008 – On July 24th the Mt. Airy Composite Squadron, along with visiting members of the Frederick and Hagerstown Composite Squadrons, marched in the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company’s (MAVFC) Gala Firemen’s Parade. This annual celebration is but one component of annual MAVFC’s week long carnival event. Maj. Judith McLellan, Squadron Commander, was escorted by C/Capt Paul Rea of the Hagerstown Squadron, in his restored WWII era Jeep. Cadet Commander, C/Lt. Col. Zach Bowen led the marching unit, assisted by C/A1C James Petersen calling cadence. C/Capt. Anna Bladey and C/Basic Sam Bladey represented Frederick Squadron on this evening. Cadets were welcomed with applause from the crowd and salutes from young children as they marched along the parade route. The CAP van was driven by 1st Lt. Ron Long. CAP Officer Charles Lohoefer and C/Basic Ryan Brown distributed recruitment flyers to parade spectators. Following the parade, squadron members enjoyed a pizza party at the Olive Leaf Café.
